ARTIST COOPERATIVE

Artists interested in using MCBA's equipment outside of class sessions may rent equipment on an hourly basis. For greater studio access, artists are encouraged to apply for membership in the MCBA Artist Cooperative. Co-op membership is open to artists with demonstrated interest in papermaking, binding, letterpress, relief printmaking and/or screenprinting, and offers extended access to a wide range of equipment in MCBA's studios. Co-op members also receive opportunities to share techniques, receive feedback on their work, and collaborate on projects.

Co-op membership dues are $165/month, with a minimum six month commitment. Volunteer opportunities are available to reduce dues to as low as $110 per month. A limited number of short-term memberships (three to five month commitment) may be available, based on studio capacity. Short-term membership dues are $195 per month. Short-term membership dues may not be reduced by volunteering.

Member benefits include:

  • 24-hour access to the MCBA papermaking, binding and printing studios
  • Preferred press access on Open Studio nights
  • On-site secure artist storage
  • Exhibition opportunities
  • Study, teaching, and mentor opportunities
  • Interaction with a community of working artists
  • Opportunities to participate in special MCBA events
  • 70/30 consignment split on work for sale in The Shop at MCBA (typical split is 60/40)
  • 50% discount on MCBA workshops (subject to class enrollment)

Applications to the artist cooperative are reviewed on a rolling basis; applicants are reviewed and admission decisions made by current co-op members and MCBA staff.
