EQUIPMENT
AND STUDIO RENTAL
MCBA's equipment
and studios are available to rent in half-hour
increments. Fees depend on the equipment rented.
MCBA requires all equipment renters to be trained
specifically for the equipment they wish to use.
This means attending one of MCBA's frequently offered
training classes (see the class schedule for dates)
or arranging a private tutorial. Once trained,
you will be authorized to rent equipment by scheduling
time on the studio calendar, provided such use
does not interfere with a scheduled class or event.
MCBA reserves the right to require re-training
when it deems necessary and to deny use of equipment
for any reason.
Rental fees cover the use of black ink, solvents and rags in the print studio,
felts and blotters in the paper studios, and hand tools and presses in the bindery.
Renters must bring and use their own consumable materials or other supplies
and must clean the equipment and area they use. MCBA strives to maintain equipment
for use in classes and we ask that you help by notifying us if equipment malfunctions.
Rental fees may be waived during participation in specified courses to complete
projects. MCBA members receive a 10 percent discount on hourly rental fees.
Equipment Rental Fees (half-hour minimum):
- Printing presses: $30 per hour
- Darkroom: $15 per hour
- Typesetting:$20 per hour, plus $100 type deposit check required (refunded upon completion)
- Hollander or Reina beater: $15 per hour
- Papermaking equipment: $20 per hour
- Binding & Cutting equipment: $20 per hour
