FAMILY WORKSHOPS
Join MCBA staff to create fun and unique books, paper and printmaking projects. Learn about the techniques, processes and tools you are using while exploring the world of book arts. Workshops are designed for families with school-age children; please see descriptions for specific appropriate age ranges.

Children ages 9 and up may take workshops independently or with an adult. Each participant (children and adults) will receive materials; adult/child pairs may choose to work side-by-side or together. All supply fees are now included in workshop tuition.

Don't forget to also visit MCBA's Preschool Book Arts Series page, full of fall- and holiday-themed workshops where families can experience the book arts together! (for children ages 3-5)

Please make every effort to register AT LEAST one week in advance of any workshop. Decisions about whether to cancel workshops or add sections are typically made one week prior to the start of workshops.

Let's Go Fishing

Tuesday, August 3; 10am-noon

Get hooked on Marcus Pfister’s The Rainbow Fish. Then use color paper and tissue paper, color paint and glitter, brushes and lots of rubbery fish to print a GIANT rainbow fish, sunfish, catfish or perch. "Catch" a bucket of fish prints to take home and share some "fishy" snacks when you’re done.

Join Ellen for Tuesday mornings of family book arts fun! Each workshop starts off with a story and game to warm up your creativity and then dives into a book arts project. Workshops accommodate a range of developmental levels so that adult-child teams may choose to work together or side-by-side. Each participant receives supplies to use during the workshop, but may choose to bring one set home if working with a partner. Ellen will provide older children with suggestions for extending their learning.
