Preschool Book Arts with Ellen Ferrari

PRESCHOOL WORKSHOP SERIES
MCBA’s classes for preschoolers provide authentic studio art experiences for children 3 to 5 years old and an adult partner. Classes provide an introduction to the book arts that focuses on pre-literacy skills. Each class starts with a story time with books that tie into the art activity. Adults are active participants in the classes, learning and working alongside preschoolers on a variety of hands-on activities.

Preschool Book Arts Series
with Ellen Ferrari
For children ages 3-5

Get a jump on literacy in interactive pre-school book arts classes with Ellen. Children and adults work together to make paper; print patterns, shapes and letters; and construct colorful books in a fun environment. Each class begins by reading a story and continues by investigating examples produced by working artists. Vocabulary, tools and processes will also be introduced. These workshops emphasize visual decision-making, improving manual dexterity and instilling a love of books -- and can be repeated over and over again as projects change each session. Dress for mess with water-safe shoes. Register for a single class, or an entire session at a discounted rate.

Holiday session participants will create a variety of gifts:
November 11: Paste Paper Gift Wrap
November 18: Book Ornaments/Ornament Books
December 2: Pressure Printing Greeting Cards
December 9: Marbling Home Decorations

Register for a single class, or for an entire four-class session at a reduced rate:
Four-class session: $56 ($51 members) per adult/child pair
Single classes: $15 ($14 members) per adult/child pair
Additional participants (children or adults) are welcome to join you! Please note the number and names of all participants when you register, and add $8 ($7 members) per additional participant per class.

NOTE: registration for Preschool Book Arts class closes on the Tuesday prior to the class, to give the instructor time to prepare workshop materials beforehand. E.g., for a class on Thursday the 24th, you must be registered by Tuesday the 22nd.
