Blizzard Books

  • Minnesota Center for Book Arts 1011 South Washington Avenue #100 Minneapolis, MN, 55415 United States (map)

Thursday, March 19; 6–9pm CT

In this in-person workshop, learn to make the Blizzard Book, an innovative book structure designed by book artist Heidi Kyle.

This structure relies on paper folding and lends itself well to non-linear storytelling and participatory reading. First, we will learn to construct the spine and cut pages for the Blizzard Book. Then, we will practice folding a soft cover for the structure and review hardcover board bindings, both of which can be used to enclose this book structure. With any remaining time, participants will be guided through brainstorming activities to generate ideas for an artists' book using this structure.

Level: Beginners. All levels are welcome, but some experience with bookbinding, origami, or paper folding is helpful.
Certificate: 3 hours, Category B or D
