Image transfers are a playful and versatile process to add to your collage toolbox. Part collage and part print, image transfers offer an opportunity for unexpected results.
In this virtual workshop, learn a number of techniques for transferring text and images–color and black and white–using a range of transfer methods. We’ll begin with a simple tape transfer, followed by a number of solvent transfers and a transfer method using matte medium. With the remaining time, we’ll experiment with adding transfers to our existing collage work or combine transfers with prints to create one of a kind variations. Participants will engage in guided printing practice with opportunities for troubleshooting, questions, and feedback while experimenting. Come away with prints and the know-how to keep making image transfers on your own!
Level: Beginner. Some experience with collage or mixed media methods is helpful.
Certificate: 3 hours, Category B or D
