Book artist Erica Spitzer Rasmussen and MCBA's Anika Schneider are leading the Minnesota Center for Book Arts on a day trip to Collegeville, Minnesota, home to the Hill Museum & Manuscript Library's collection of rare and historic books. It's the first field trip we've run in years, and we'd love for you to come along.
Along the way, we'll stop at the Johanna Kiln, the largest wood-fired kiln of its kind in North America. It fires once a year for seven days, and our visit is timed to catch it mid-burn. Erica will lead the discussion for the rest of the day, and we'll stop for lunch at Krewe in nearby St. Joseph before getting a tour of HMML’s collection.
This is a chance to spend a full day with people who care about books and making the way we do, and to bring that energy back to our own studio community. The trip is open to board members, artists, and anyone who wants to join us.
$290 covers tours, bus transportation, and lunch. Bus departs MCBA at 9am, returns by 4pm.
A limited number of scholarships are available. The scholarships cover 50% of the cost of the trip ($145). To request a reduced scholarship rate, please complete the form below. In the event that scholarships run out, the form will function as a waitlist while we seek additional scholarship sponsors.
