Learn how to achieve optimal results in translating a variety of imagery, from etchings to photographs, into digital files ready to be sent out to be made into photopolymer plates for letterpress.
This virtual workshop is a guide to Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) with an emphasis on aspects relevant to letterpress printing, including scanning and converting grayscale images to bitmaps, alternative methods of halftoning such as diffusion dithers, and other tips and tricks.
Level: Intermediate. Participants must have a general knowledge of letterpress printing as well as access to and familiarity with using Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) independently.

The Pay-It-Forward rate (tuition, plus 50%) supports MCBA’s efforts to make scholarships available. We leave it to you to choose the rate that is meaningful to you based on your income, wealth, and privilege status. MCBA members receive a 10% discount on tuition.
What you'll need to participate
Tech requirements: Participants must have access to and familiarity with the most recent version of Adobe Creative Suite throughout the workshop. As this is a participatory virtual workshop, we recommend joining on a laptop or desktop computer with a camera and microphone, if possible. You will receive step-by-step instructions for downloading Zoom (it’s free!) and accessing the workshop online approximately 2 days before the workshop’s start date.
