Digital File Preparation for Screen Printing

Wednesdays: January 14, 21, 28; 7–9pm CT

This virtual workshop is a guide to using Photoshop for screen printing, including converting grayscale images to halftones, using threshold filters for easy posterization, and other tips and tricks

Photoshop is the perfect way to convert your photographs to screen-printable positives and to preview your layers before ink hits the screen! Participants will not be screen printing in this workshop, but they will have the opportunity to turn photographs into positives, which can later be screen printed in another workshop or independently (depending on the prior experience of each individual).

Level: Intermediate. Participants must have a general knowledge of screen printing as well as access to and familiarity with using Adobe Photoshop independently.
Certificate: 6 hours, Category B or C; fulfills Core design/content requirement

Pricing

$147 | $74 Scholarship | $221 Pay-It-Forward

Scholarships are available for individuals facing adversity as it relates to identity, income/wealth, and lack of access to arts resources. The Pay-It-Forward rate (tuition, plus 50%) supports MCBA’s efforts to make scholarships available. We leave it to you to choose the rate that is meaningful to you based on your income, wealth, and privilege status. MCBA members receive a 10% discount on tuition.

What you'll need to participate

Tech requirements: Participants must have access to and familiarity with the most recent version of Adobe Photoshop throughout the workshop. As this is a participatory virtual workshop, we recommend joining on a laptop or desktop computer with a camera and microphone, if possible. You will receive step-by-step instructions for downloading Zoom (it’s free!) and accessing the workshop online approximately 2 days before the workshop’s start date.

Please note: Registration closes 1/9 at midnight (CT).
