Thursdays: February 6 & 13; 6–9pm CT
Refresh your skills and build confidence in MCBA’s screen printing studio in this workshop focused on fabric.
Learn how to screen print on fabric using hand-drawn artwork, cut paper stencils, and darkroom techniques while printing your own design on a tote bag and tea towel. Instruction will cover design, screen exposure, ink, and multi-color printing for fabric. Come away from the workshop with the confidence to work independently at MCBA's Screen Print Labs.
Bring your sketches and ideas to the workshop. Final designs should fit on a letter-sized sheet of paper (maximum width 8.5 inches) and may include up to two colors. Participants are encouraged to bring a T-shirt to print on, too! Natural fiber fabric works best for the water-based screen printing inks used in MCBA’s studio; we prefer 100% cotton or cotton/polyester blends with at least 50% cotton.
Level: Intermediate. Participants must have taken Introduction to Screen Printing or similar before registering for this workshop. Repeat this workshop or Introduction to Screen Printing to refamiliarize yourself with MCBA’s studios and the screen printing process and build on your skills.

MCBA offers two scholarship types for workshops—Financial Hardship Scholarships and BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) Scholarships—to honor equity and increase access and artistic opportunities for those who have historically been underrepresented in the book arts. For individuals to whom these scholarships do not apply, register at the Adult rate and, if you are able, consider making a donation when registering to support MCBA’s efforts to make scholarships available.
