Welcome Courtney Gerber, MCBA’s New Executive Director!
Minnesota Center for Book Arts is excited to announce that Courtney Gerber will join MCBA as Executive Director, beginning October 14th. Courtney brings more than 20 years of nonprofit arts leadership experience and a deep passion for book arts to her new role. Her proven track record of financial management, fundraising success, and commitment to equity and access make her ideally suited to lead MCBA forward.
About CourtneyProfessional Experience: Courtney has held senior leadership roles at some of the Twin Cities' most respected cultural organizations, including the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits, Minnesota Museum of American Art, and Walker Art Center.
Financial Expertise: She has successfully managed significant budgets, secured substantial funding, and developed sustainable revenue models throughout her career.
Commitment to Equity: Courtney has been instrumental in developing inclusive programming and expanding access to the arts for underrepresented communities through trust and relationship building.
Book Arts Connection: With academic training in medieval manuscripts and contemporary art history, plus personal practice in poetry and visual journaling, Courtney brings both professional expertise and creative engagement to the field.
Search ProcessCourtney was selected following a comprehensive national search that attracted more than 45 qualified applicants from across the country. The search process included community presentations where MCBA supporters had the opportunity to meet finalists and provide input.

Looking ForwardCourtney will work closely with outgoing Executive Director Elysa Voshell during the transition period. Community members will have opportunities to meet Courtney at a celebration event on September 26th.
