Now or Never Issue 1 Zine by Jake Nassif
“After a confluence of life events (turning 50, empty-nesting, *looks around in dismay at, well, everything*), I’ve been wishing for new ways to express myself. I write and I draw, so making a comic may not sound like a stretch. Let me say though, after a lifetime of using my creativity for other people’s projects, this is one of the hardest things I’ve ever tried. In a 28-page story, you literally make a thousand decisions, each one a chance to be awkward and boring and to humiliate yourself so bad you want to fall in a hole. I gave up like 10 times.
But now that I pushed PRINT, you know what? I love it. I want to share it with all my friends. I want to make a lot more.
It’s called Now or Never. It’s a true story (perhaps to a fault). I’m a character, along with fellow traveler @austinramzy (my mom also makes a cameo). I produced 60 issues last weekend at the excellent @wip_mpls community print shop.
Anyhow, if you ever want to talk zines, hmu. And if you're trying something new, keep going.” - Jake Nassif
