Hellen Colman

Hellen Colman (she/her) is a Chicago-based printmaker and photographer primarily working on artist’s books. Her work spans several media including papermaking, natural dyes, and eco printing. Also a mathematician, Hellen strives to construct alternative languages to express sentiments. Originally from Montevideo, Uruguay, Hellen received her PhD from the University of Santiago de Compostela, Spain. She holds a Certificate in Art from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago where she also received her printmaking and photography training. Hellen is currently a professor at the City Colleges of Chicago.
