Learn the magical process of eco-printing in this in-person workshop.

We will introduce botanical printing techniques that yield very defined prints of leaves and flowers on silk. Learn how to make eco-prints while exploring your relationship to nature and become more connected to the earth. Master recipes to mordant silk and techniques to control the definition of the print. We will study the different plants available locally that supply natural colors. Instruction includes historical context as well as possibilities in contemporary art.

This workshop will include lectures, step-by-step demonstrations, hands-on experiments, discussions, and critique. It is suitable for beginners and also welcomes students who wish to expand their eco-printing skills. It is also an invitation to explore ways to incorporate the process into your own practice, with an emphasis in artist's books.

You will leave with eco-prints, including a beautiful silk scarf, and all the knowledge to keep experimenting on your own.

Level: Beginner. All skill levels are welcome.
    Certificate: 6 hours, Category B or D
