Wednesdays: May 21 & 28; 5–8pm CT
In this virtual workshop, explore two of Rosae’s favorite accordion-based structures—an accordion book featuring a non-adhesive cover, and an expandable, hardcover album.
The first is a traditional accordion book with a decorative paper cover attached without glue. The second structure combines a pamphlet stitch binding (composed of multiple sections of folded sheets of paper) with an accordion to create an album for photographs and cards, or to be used as a journal or artist’s book. The accordion fold is one of the most versatile techniques used in bookbinding. It is exhibited in single-page books and concertina bindings, and is the foundation of many other book structures.
Level: Beginner. All skill levels are welcome.
Certificate: 6 hours, Category A; fulfills Core binding requirement
