Foil adds rich gold, shiny silver, and wild holographic accents to prints and bindings. Learn how to use the hot foil stamping machines in MCBA’s bindery, aptly named Kwikprint machines.
This hands-on, in-person workshop will introduce participants to the machines and how to use them safely. Hot foil stamping machines are hot! The Kwikprint machine can reach temperatures of 400+ degrees. Explore the qualities of foil and discuss the use of brass type. Instruction and experience using the equipment will introduce participants to the subtleties of the process including use of temperature, pressure, and dwell time. Come away with knowledge and resources to add hot foil stamping to your repertoire of book arts techniques!
Level: Beginner. All skill levels are welcome.
