Letterlocking: Folded Secrets

Tuesday, February 3; 7–9pm CT

Before security envelopes, people had to have a way to keep their letters private.

They used a variety of folds, cuts, and wax seals to tamper-proof or "lock" their mail. This method was used by royalty, spies, merchants, and lovers. In this virtual workshop, learn the history of letterlocking and how to lock your own letters.

Level: Beginner. All skill levels are welcome.
Certificate: 2 hours, Category D

Pricing

$45 | $23 Scholarship | $68 Pay-It-Forward

Scholarships are available for individuals facing adversity as it relates to identity, income/wealth, and lack of access to arts resources. The Pay-It-Forward rate (tuition, plus 50%) supports MCBA’s efforts to make scholarships available.
