Marbling Focus: Nonpareil & Chevron Variations

  • Minnesota Center for Book Arts 1011 South Washington Avenue #100 Minneapolis, MN, 55415 United States (map)

Saturday, April 25; 10am–4pm CT

This in-person workshop focuses on sharpening skills needed to marble nonpareil and chevron patterns.

First, review foundational patterns for classic modern marbling, git-gel and nonpareil. From there, we will build over these basic strokes with combs to create a third foundational pattern: chevron. By alternating demonstrations and guided practice, we will build skills using the bouquet comb to create the bouquet pattern and, if the time allows, more variations including, fountain (nonpareil), cockatoo (chevron), and fleur-de-lis (chevron).

Participants will leave with several beautiful marbled papers and the skills needed to keep practicing during Marbling Labs.

This workshop aims to provide novice and seasoned marblers with an opportunity to isolate and refine specific techniques, further adding to the marbler's toolbox.

Level: Intermediate. To enroll, participants need to have taken Introduction to Marbling at MCBA or an equivalent workshop elsewhere.
Certificate: 6 hours, Category B or D
