As a letterpress printer, Myrna Keliher (she/her) of Expedition Press works primarily with handset metal type and antique presses. Her studio practice is research-based and employs strict experimentation alongside no-holds-barred exploration. She collects poetry fragments, expands on them visually, and threads them together to create an experience at once intimate and vast, exposing a sense of wonder and available space. According to Franz Kafka: “A book must be the axe that breaks the frozen sea within us.” She aims for her prints to be pages out of that book. Myrna is the owner of Expedition Press. She studied literature and printing at the Evergreen State College and later apprenticed with Stern & Faye, Printers. Myrna is passionate about language, spacing, letters, teaching, and getting people to read poetry. Myrna lives in South Seattle with her family. Off press, she loves to hike, knit, garden, and learn new things endlessly. Learn more about Myrna and Expedition Press here.
