Lana had the amazing opportunity in 2013 to collaborate with the dear late Frank Riccio on a small edition of miniature books called Poison Sisters. She and Frank worked together to bring the tale of two unlikely sisters, Belladonna and Datura, to life. Both at once medicine and poison, Datura of North America and Belladonna of Europe shared vilification and veneration in human society. Full of illustrations from both of us as well as hand-cut pop-up structures, this accordion fold miniature book features letterpress, Italian marbled paper covers, and Japanese silk book cloth.” - Lana Lambert

Lana Lambert (she/her) is an artist/illustrator pursuing a vision of observing and translating the wonders of natural world. Her works were inspired early on by the Pre-Raphaelites and German Romanticism and later richly influenced by the Shin-Hanga movement and classic Islamic Art and Architecture. Lana enjoys blending traditional methods of art making with contemporary digital tools, focusing on the original human instigator behind the modern technological amenities we enjoy.

Having earned a bachelor of fine arts degree from the Corcoran College of Art and Design in Washington, D.C., she recently completed her Masters of Graphic Design from the Vermont College of Fine Art in Santa Clarita, California. She is the Program Director for the Shenandoah Valley Art Center and a member of the Arts Council of the Valley in Harrisonburg, Virginia. She was a resident artist at the Virginia Center for the Book from 2010 until their dissolution in June of 2025. While she enjoys traditional drawing in graphite, water media, and pen & ink, she also creates highly detailed relief prints via linocut and woodcut. She learned both western oil-based printing and a water-based Japanese woodcut printing referred to as “moku hanga.” Lana also works in digital platforms as well, creating works in both raster and vector based formats.
