The Cheese Zines by Jared Kaufman
A series of zines all about the wonders and mysteries of cheese!
“Issue 1: Fondue - In the inaugural issue of The Cheeze Zine...
we make fondue
we romanticize life in Switzerland
we learn (yet again) how everything good only exists to sell stuff
we go full FIGUGEGL
we become amateur rheologists
we almost get lost in the sauce
we eat the fondue from earlier, which we did NOT forget about
Dissect the history, culture, and science of fondue, with illustrations and recipes.
Issue 2: - Manchego - In Issue 02 of The Cheeze Zine...
we eat some manchego
we wonder how manchego became a stand-in for all Spanish cheese
we visit the real-life Museo del Queso Manchego in Toledo, Spain
we reiterate how fascism makes our lives more dull and less delicious
we defend our beloved sheep from the “wake up, sheeple!” slander
we become amateur phenomenologists
we reconnect with our senses
we eat more manchego, which tastes a bit better now
How can manchego, the (in)famous and ubiquitous Spanish cheese, help us understand and resist fascism?” - Jared Kaufman

Jared Kaufman (he/him) is a letterpress printmaker, food/features reporter, and cheese educator in the Twin Cities. Through Zamler Press, he focuses on social action via food, pop culture, and Jewish spirituality. Many of his prints, in English and Hebrew, explore connections between sacred liturgical writings and Jewish ethics firmly rooted in the diaspora. He's the 2025–26 letterpress studio fellow at MCBA, and he's particularly interested in how the ways we eat reflect who we are (and who we think we are). Oh, and he also wants to letterpress-print your menus!
