Molly Berkson (she/her) lives in Chicago, Illinois and works as a Studio Assistant at Steracle Press and a Teaching Artist at Lillstreet Art Center. In April 2024, she began creating limited edition handmade paper under the name Too Blue Press. Her recent work in papermaking, printmaking, and book arts aims to describe her recent experience with sudden hearing loss, disability, and grief. Through graphic shapes and text-as-image, she explores how communication and sound can be described visually from her perspective of a late-deafened individual. She is also interested in how grief can be intertwined with nostalgia, and how to invoke a sense of time using experimental fiber in hand papermaking and imagery that reference found ephemera and collections.
