Saturday, June 27; 10am–4pm CT
Join us for a collaborative concrete poetry and low-fi printmaking workshop in MCBA’s studios, drawing on the history of concrete poetry, the work of screenprinter and text-combiner Corita Kent, and Walt Whitman's insistence that a just society is poetry's embodiment.
We'll gather words from our surroundings and daily lives, use these to make stencils, and then collaboratively print poems that can be installed in public places. This collaborative poem will be added to by people across the US—some prints will travel on to be layered with others' language.
Level: Beginner. All skill levels are welcome. No prior printing (or poetry) experience necessary.
Certificate: 6 hours, Category C or D
