Create a unique hardcover book to showcase a vertical, or column-shaped, collage with pages/panels for additional art or writing, in this virtual workshop.
We’ll begin by creating the book structure and covering and collaging the cover. Then, we’ll create the column-shaped collage as the focal-point of our book. Experiment with pacing and contrast by using various paper ephemera to tell a small visual story. Collages can have a theme or be abstract. Add sewn pages for additional art and journaling after the workshop. This book has tremendous potential to be adapted as a journal, house a narrow accordion structure, or become a small display for photos and envelopes.
Level: Beginner. Basic bookbinding and collage experience is helpful, but not required.
Certificate: 2.5 hours, Category B or D
