Summer Moon Flag Book

Wednesday, May 13; 5:30–8pm CT

Create an original flag book—inspired by smiling moons and summer blooms—that showcases your painting and collage skills, in this virtual workshop.

Originally created by Hedi Kyle, this traditional flag book has small panels that cross each other when the book opens and closes. This playful, accessible book structure is mounted between two hard covers. Participants are invited to gather miscellaneous ephemera (see materials list for ideas) and are encouraged to decorate their covers (with paint, collage, or by covering with decorative paper) in advance, so they are ready to add it to the structure during the workshop.

Level: Beginner. Basic experience making books (measuring and cutting book board, understanding of paper grain, and gluing paper to board) or collage is helpful but not required.
Certificate: 2.5 hours, Category B or D
