Wild Goose Chase examines a complex and layered relationship between women and food and control. Narratives inside the book relate memories of eating and family and home, and familiar foods are reflected on delicate pink triangles in a “wild goose chase” quilt pattern laid out on a field of a fancy lace pattern. Amongst this loveliness and nostalgia, however, pages are stitched in tight lines and loaded with steel corset bones and ball bearings, and a long list of familiar “tips” for weight control are inscribed on the back side. When closed, the accordion-style book is held tight together with corset bindings which must be reckoned with before opening the book or viewing its contents.” - Heather Doyle-Maier
